It is an honor to work for children and educators across the San Luis Valley and all of Colorado and with CEA as we advocate for students and members. In my seven years as president/co-president of Gunnison County Education Association, I learned a great deal about personal relationships and believe I have developed strong interpersonal skills needed to grow our membership and advocate for students and our profession. In my career as a teacher, I developed curriculum, created authentic assessments, planned delivery of services for English Language Learners, and operated the Rockin' Reading Route Book Bus Program.
My aspiration for SLUU locals and their members is for them to be successful as educators with their students and raise their voices to fight for what is needed at every level, from individual school sites to School Boards to the State Legislature. Every educator brings his/her own strengths, unique teaching and learning style and determination for themselves to be successful. It has always been my goal to see adults and children find their own purpose and to promote their personal well being. This is why I became a teacher, and why, at this point in my career, this position with CEA as San Luis UniServ Director is the perfect for me.
