Timothy Brown

Timothy Brown holds an undergraduate degree from the State University of New York, Fredonia, earning teacher licensure in both music and French. He holds an MA degree from Goddard College. His doctorate in music theory and composition is from the University of Northern Colorado. A National Board Certified Teacher, Dr. Brown is in his 28th year of teaching. He has served his local, CEA, and NEA in numerous capacities over the years.

With the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, he has been a building representative, picket captain, served on dues review committee, minority concerns task force, board of directors, membership committee, and as a trainer for suicide alertness and intervention skills. 

With CEA, Dr. Brown has served on the membership cadre, elections committee, as a state delegate, and board alternate. He served on the VIVA teacher licensure committee making recommendations about educator licensure, and is currently serving on the ESSA Implementation Task Force.  He has written new business items and resolutions on lgbt inclusion, suicide intervention, class size, administrator credentials, and not connecting test scores to evaluations.

As a delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, Dr. Brown has authored and co-authored NBIs and legislative agenda amendments on student suicide, employee suicide, national board certification, and expectations for US Secretary of Education nominees.

Dr. Brown is the recipient of the 2015 Dr. John M. and Gladys N. Bates Award for Outstanding Contributions in Human Relations, Multiculturalism, and/or Diversity Education from CEA.
