You will gain membership in the both the NEA and the CEA, and also become a member of a Local Association upon joining. You can join at any time during the year!


How to Join: Active K12 Teachers


Most teachers are eligible to join through one of CEA’s 200 Local Associations or a BOCES Unit. You will gain membership in the both the NEA and the CEA, and also become a member of a Local Association upon joining. You can join at any time during the year.

Learn more about the benefits of membership from the Association Representative (AR) in your school. Your AR will have dues information and can assist you in completing the appropriate forms if you decide to join. Your Local Association may use the CEA-NEA Membership Form (which you can access here) or the AR may give you a local form to complete. If you work in a school district or BOCES without an active CEA Local Association, or cannot locate your AR for any reason, click here for a map of our state UniServ Offices and ask the local staff about belonging. How to Join: Education Support Staff


Most support staff are eligible to join through one of CEA’s 200 Local Associations or a BOCES Unit. You will gain membership in the both the NEA and the CEA, and many ESP will also become a member of a Local Association upon joining. ESP dues are approximately one-half of dues for teachers and are based on the number of hours worked in a year. Part-time dues are available. You can join at any time during the year.

How to Join: Retired Education Employee


Anyone at least 45 years old, eligible to receive PERA or PERA-Denver retirement, and who was employed at least five years in a public school position that qualifies for Active membership can join the CEA/NEA-Retired Associations. Lifetime Dues are paid once at the time you join and guarantee a one-time cost for dues for life. An Annual Dues option is available, but subject to price increases and potential loss of benefits. Click to Download the membership form for retired membership and lock in your dues for life.

If you are not yet retired, but 45-years old, join as a Pre-Retired Life member. This is the best, easiest and least expensive way to begin preparing for retirement. Your dues may be tax deductible if paid before you retire. How to Join: College Student/Pre-Professional


Enroll now on the NEA website. Many colleges and universities in the state have active Local Assocations on campus for students studying education. Ask about belonging to the Local Association with your teaching program or contact CEA Membership by email or call 303-837-1500 (1-800-332-5939) for membership information.
