Brad Bartels, Executive Director of the Colorado Education Association since 2014, will resign his position in December to become the Executive Director of the Utah Education Association in January 2019.
“It has been an honor to work with CEA members over two decades,” said Bartels. “The work our staff, leaders and members have accomplished, and the wins we have achieved during recent years, has been impressive.”
Bartels coordinated the efforts of CEA leadership and staff to create a new vision for the Association based upon collaboration and community involvement.
“Brad’s leadership was vital in our success to ensure educators’ voices are heard in public education conversations throughout Colorado. Educators in Utah will benefit greatly from his sound judgement and expertise,” said CEA President Amie Baca-Oehlert. “CEA will begin the search for a new executive director with the same devotion to students success and union values who will continue our work to deliver the schools our students deserve.”
Bartels previously served three years as CEA’s General Counsel, 13 years as Legal Counsel, and is a former classroom teacher in Denver Public Schools.
