School transparency, accountability put in jeopardy with Senate’s proposed charter funding mandate

The state’s largest group of educators is opposing a proposal in the legislature that would mandate how locally-approved dollars are spent in public schools. Senate Bill 17-061 would force districts to hand over money raised in local mill levy elections to charter schools with little oversight that those funds would be used as the voters intended.

CEA releases member voting recommendations for Election 2016

The CEA is encouraging high voter turnout among its membership to ensure educator voice is heard loud and clear in Election 2016. For months, bi-partisan teams of CEA members interviewed candidates for public office and reviewed state and local ballot initiatives to give the membership an informed opinion on how educator votes can make a positive difference for their profession and for their students in federal, state and local elections.
