    U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and U.S. Senator Michael Bennet visited the faculty at Mathematics and Science Leadership Academy in west Denver to peek inside a teacher-led school and see how students benefit when teachers are given freedom and autonomy to make decisions for the school.

    CEA helped launch a movement called “Free Our Teachers, Value Our Students” to ask communities across Colorado to examine some of the pressing issues facing public schools, including anemic funding for a growing student population, a corporate-driven testing culture absorbing classroom time, and the loss of vital instruction time for students.
