Belong!

Belong as a Student Member

Students in teacher preparation courses at Colorado accredited public and private colleges and universities are eligible for membership, as are prospective teachers pursuing alternative teacher licenses. The annual dues are $23 ($15 NEA, $8 CEA). If you are a student at Metro State, you pay an additional $7 in local dues. Student dues are not pro-rated if you join after September 1.

Student Membership is open to a person who has been a licensed teacher in the past. If you are a teacher and begin a graduate program, you are eligible to be a Student Member during the time that you are working on your degree program. When you return to teaching, you must be an Active member.

Student Members can join online or by sending us a form!

Online
Join online and use a credit card. Complete the online form, and receive an e-mail confirming your enrollment. Print the confirmation e-mail as a receipt.

By Form and Personal Check

Many Benefits of Belonging!
Liability insurance is only one reason to belong to our Association. An even bigger reason is the Legal Services that comes with your liability insurance. It is personal, one-on-one help from a CEA attorney in legal matters that relate directly to your preparation to become a teacher.

We realize that some Student Members want a copy of the NEA Liability Insurance Policy as proof that you have insurance coverage. We will mail you an insurance brochure after you join if you want one (we are not able to provide it online because of insurance regulations). E-mail us here for a copy of the brochure.

When you get a CEA Pocket Calendar in the mail, following receipt of your check or credit card payment for dues, you can remove the membership card from the front cover and use it as proof of membership. If that is not suitable proof for your college or university, we will send you a letter you can use as proof. E-mail us here if you need such a letter.

Benefits of belonging include:

Check out the NEA Student Program site too.

Student Dues Rebate
Your Student Member dues are a credit toward membership when you begin teaching. First-year teachers who belonged as Student Members get a $30 rebate on their first-year CEA-NEA teacher dues for each year of student membership up to four years ($10 from CEA and $20 from NEA for each year).
